Nathan E Viquesney (he/they) is a queer and gender-nonconforming composer from the Valley of Arizona. Viquesney (b. 2002) has a background in piano, cello, choir, and musical theater performance, and he is currently learning harp. He attended Arizona School for the Arts for both middle and high school. He played in both orchestras and musical pits at his time there and was the assistant musical director for two musical theater performances. Viquesney now attends Arizona State University and is currently studying for their Bachelors in Composition, and is studying under Daniel Bernard Roumain's (DBR) lab.
In 2014 and 2015, he competed in the Arizona State Music Teacher Association's Study program and was awarded an excellence and excellence with honors. Viquesney won first in the Arizona Society of general Music's Student Composition Festival in 2018. In 2024 through DBR Lab, they were selected to perform at National Sawdust in New York City.
Viquesney loves to explore all sorts of forms of art ranging from music to visual art, both traditional and digital. He loves drawing, video games, tote bags, and his cat.
Viquesney has experience in using various Digital Audio Workstations, Notation software's, and digital art software's. He is competent in Logic, Finale, MuseScore, Procreate, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
He has written for both electronics and MIDIs as well as ensembles, from string quartet to a full orchestra. Viquesney's music has been used for a variety of reasons, including soundtrack for indie video games, short films, and dance.
Viquesney enjoys creating around various themes, whether based in reality or fantasy. Some works are inspired by grief, mental health, life, and queerness. Some are inspired by mythology, fantasy worlds, and video games.
Queer, imaginative, and authentically himself, Nathan Viquesney (he/they) is a composer from the Valley of Arizona whose work explores a variety of topics and themes. These themes can be drawn from his own lived experiences, his imagination, fantasy, and/or mythology. From soundtrack work for short films and video games to quartets and large ensemble works, Viquesney has the skills and ability to create across genres and mediums. They love to explore a wide range of art from music to visual art, in both a traditional and digital landscape, and are always hungry to explore more ways of creating.
